People commit racial microaggressions (subtle forms of racism) every single day and often arenât even aware or they think the other person doesnât know what they are doing.
Some will make statements like âI donât see skin colourâ thinking itâs a positive statement or they ask alienating questions such as âWhere are you from? Where are you really from?â These types of statements can drive a wedge in relationships because ethnic minority people realise they are not being treated as an individual but instead as a representative of their racial group. This course shares many examples of microaggressions, so people can understand the breadth of them to avoid causing offence, losing trust and driving ethnic minorities away.Â
Â
Understanding Microaggressions â the subtle racism, has been created to educate people in the workplace and in their personal lives. It offers learning on the often unspoken, but very pervasive form of racism. Â
Upon completion of the course, learners gain a thorough education on microaggressions including, the different types, impact, coping methods, how to manage difficult conversations, ways to challenge microaggressions, how offence is caused unintentionally and intentionally, and on antiblackness.Â
Of all the components of our antiracism training, THIS is the topic most people want to learn more about. Whether you are an ethnic minority who is frustratingly and regularly at the receiving end, or you are a white person curious to know how you may have subjected people to microaggressions, this course is for you. It is designed to educate all, so that this subtle form of racism is reduced, if not diminished.
